Description

The Vibration Analysis CAT III Online Examination assesses the advanced analytical knowledge and technical judgement required of a senior vibration analyst.

The questions focus on realistic machinery diagnostic situations rather than simple memorisation. Candidates may be required to select appropriate measurement settings, interpret spectra and time waveforms, analyse phase relationships, evaluate cross-channel measurements, identify resonance, interpret orbit plots, or determine the most appropriate corrective action.

The examination also evaluates the candidate’s understanding of signal processing, machine dynamics, rolling-element bearings, journal bearings, rotor dynamics, gears, electric motors, pumps, fans, compressors, acceptance testing, alarm management, and condition monitoring programme development.

Successful candidates demonstrate that they can combine information from multiple measurement formats, distinguish between faults with similar symptoms, assess data quality, and make reliable diagnostic and maintenance decisions.
