The exam covers advanced signal processing and measurement configuration, spectral and time waveform analysis, phase and cross-channel measurements, resonance and natural frequency analysis, advanced bearing and gearbox diagnostics, modulation and sideband interpretation, electrical and mechanical fault separation, and the analysis of complex machinery problems.

The questions are based on real diagnostic judgement rather than simple memorisation. You may be asked to distinguish between faults that produce similar spectral patterns, select the most appropriate measurement setup for a difficult problem, interpret sidebands and harmonics, assess resonance or structural response, and combine spectrum, waveform, phase and operating information to reach the correct diagnosis.
